Values are presented as absolute numbers and percentage (n [%]) for categorical variables and mean ± SD or medians and P25–P75, unless otherwise specified. Presence of hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and hyperhomocysteinemia were determined at the time of inclusion. Hypertension was defined as having a systolic blood pressure >140 mmHg or taking antihypertensive medication. Hypercholesterolemia was defined as having a total cholesterol level >6.5 mmol/l or taking cholesterol reducing medication. Hyperhomocysteinemia was defined as having a homocysteine level >19 µmol/l for men or >17 µmol/l for women. *P<0.05 compared to JUVENTAS patients, †data not available.
