STRUCTURAL DESIGN OF A MECHANICAL WORKBENCH using SAP2000 Software

This report presents the structural analysis and design of a mechanical workshop bench using SAP2000 software. The project involved defining material properties, selecting universal beam and column sections, applying dead and live loads, and verifying structural performance through both software analysis and manual calculations. The findings confirm that the designed workbench meets safety, stability, and functional requirements. Recommendations on material selection, support stability, and dimensional adequacy are included, alongside future research directions such as nonlinear and dynamic analysis. served as the Group Leader for this project, leading the research, analysis, and documentation carried out by Group 2, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Kwara State University, under the course Steel and Timber Design (CEE465) and the supervision of Dr. Samson Olalekan Odeyemi.
