LARIAC7 Rooftop Albedo - Geographies

These layers group the 2023 building-level solar albedo (reflectance) of building rooftops to calculate average albedo values at various geographic levels in Los Angeles County. Rooftop reflectivity is an important component of determining "cool" roofs, which contribute to greater energy efficiency, lower energy consumption, and reduction of the urban heat island effect. Solar Albedo ranges from 0-1 (least to most reflective). An albedo value higher than 0.25 considered a “cool roof” for high-slope rooftops, and a value above 0.68 is considered cool for low-slope rooftops. This dataset was developed as a collaboration of the County of Los Angeles Chief Sustainability Office and Enterprise GIS teams. This layer reports average solar albedo values for the following geographies: Census tracts 2020 (CT20) Countywide Statistical Areas (CSA) Service Planning Areas (SPA) Supervisor Districts (SD) County of Los Angeles
