Canopy 2007

Developed using LiDAR collected in the spring of 2007 and imagery collected in the summer of 2007. Canopy was detected using a combination of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) from the imagery and feature heights from LiDAR. Geometric post-processing was used to clean up errors and noise (i.e., electrical lines above green vegetation). Areas without 2007 LiDAR coverage, the existing 2007 land cover classification was used as a proxy for tree canopy, specifically the class of main tree canopy/woodland (class 100). Developed in conjunction with the 2014 canopy layer. Date of last data update: 2016-02-22 This is official RLIS data.
