Database of wild meat consumption surveys by households in Yaoundé and Libreville. Project "Development of Alternatives to Poaching in Central Africa" (Dabac - 2002-2004)

A survey of urban wild meat consumption was conducted by Cirad in Cameroon and Gabon in 2003-2004 as part as UE DABAC project. Surveys (questionnaire-interviews) with 93 questions were conducted among a representative sample of households in Libreville (n=500) and Yaoundé (n=500). The information collected was related to: household characterization (composition, social class, ethnic and religious affiliation, city-village relations); consumption of meat and fish in general, and game in particular (quantitative and qualitative aspects, determinisms); the supply of game; various points related to the subject (perception of health risks, environmental considerations, knowledge of wildlife legislation, acceptance of farmed game). All data and preliminary results are provided in an Access database.
