FQMS - Fuel Quality Monitoring System 2014

According to EU Directive 98/70/EC, Member States must verify compliance with the quality standards for fuels and report the results to the European Commission. In Austria, around 7.97 million tonnes of fuel were sold in 2014, of which 6.35 million tonnes (approximately 80%) were diesel. The Federal Environment Agency analysed samples from 206 petrol stations throughout Germany, with one sample taken per petrol station. Diesel fuels have been tested in accordance with ÖNORM EN 590, petrol fuels in accordance with ÖNORM EN 228. For petrol, a sample of the fuel type ‘super gasoline’ showed a deviation from the standard parameter for vapour pressure. All samples of the types ‘super gasoline’ and ‘super plus’, as well as all diesel fuel samples, were in conformity with the standard. The maximum value of 10 mg/kg sulphur content for marine fuels to be complied with in accordance with EU Directive 2009/30/EC was not exceeded for any of the five samples analysed.
