Expression profiles of circRNAs in visceral adipose tissue from obese and non-obese individuals

A growing body of evidence has suggested that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are crucial for the regulation of gene expression. circRNA dysregulation has been implicated in several diseases. However, the expression and function of circRNAs in obesity remain unknown. In this study, we investigated global changes in the expression patterns of circRNAs in adipose tissues Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) that were obtained during bariatric surgery (Obese) or laparoscopic hernia repair (Lean) were donated by patients after obtaining informed consent.
