X-ray properties of nearby isolated Ellipticals

We propose to investigate the intrinsic properties of the hotinterstellarmedium in earlytype galaxies. To this end we have chosen a wellselected sample of isolated, optically similar, nearby, elliptical galaxies tominimize the influence of external factors such as the presence of a group orluminous masses. Three objects recently published cover the full range of LX:LBscatter observed in larger, heterogeneous samples. A fourth one, observedsubsequently, has low luminosity Xray emission.
