Genomic analysis of Vandiemenella viatica translocated populations

This study investigates the genetic outcomes of conservation translocations in the Larapuna matchstick grasshopper Vandiemenella viatica by comparing the genetic diversity of translocated populations to their original source population two generations post-translocation. Genomic data were generated using DArTseq-based SNP markers to assess key population genetic metrics, including observed autosomal heterozygosity (HO), nucleotide diversity (pi), and runs of homozygosity (ROH). These metrics provide insight into levels of genetic variation, inbreeding, and shared ancestry among individuals and populations. The findings inform the genetic consequences of translocation efforts and contribute to evidence-based strategies for the conservation and management of translocated invertebrate populations.
