Oral and gut microbiota of healthy and patients with periodontitis

To clarify if periodontitis affects gut microbiota composition leading to the increased risk of systemic diseases, we performed 16S rRNA sequencing of saliva and feces of patients with moderate to severe periodontitis and periodontally as well as systemically healthy participants. Furthermore, the effect of periodontal treatment was evaluated.
