Beyond Digital Twins: Towards an Enterprise Digital Triplet Framework for Human-Centered Smart Industry

This repository contains the supplementary materials accompanying the manuscript entitled “Beyond Digital Twins: Towards an Enterprise Digital Triplet Framework for Human-Centered Smart Industry,” submitted to IEEE Access. The paper proposes the Enterprise Digital Triplet (EDT), a conceptual reference architecture that integrates physical operations, enterprise information and business processes, human intelligence, AI-based decision intelligence, and adaptive enterprise learning to support human-centered, cross-functional decision-making in smart manufacturing. The supplementary materials are provided to improve the transparency, traceability, and reproducibility of the literature analysis and scenario-based evaluation presented in the manuscript. Contents of the repository Supplementary Material S1 — Literature Screening and Analysis. This workbook documents the literature search and screening process, including the predefined search queries, screening log, supplementary citation-search records, PRISMA flow information, and record-level concept matrix. It also provides the basis for the comparative capability assessment used to position the proposed EDT framework against existing approaches. Supplementary Material S2 — Monte Carlo Simulation. This package contains the Python script and associated outputs used to simulate the disruption-aware production-planning scenario described in the manuscript. The simulation examines the robustness of the scenario evaluation under stochastic disruptions and explores the behavior of the proposed learning-loop mechanism under repeated disruption episodes. The simulation uses illustrative assumptions and parameters. Accordingly, its results support the reproducibility and robustness assessment of the specified scenario and its evaluation logic; they should not be interpreted as empirical evidence of performance improvement in a real manufacturing enterprise. Together, these materials support the methodological transparency and reproducibility of the study while enabling readers to inspect the literature analysis, review the underlying scenario assumptions, and reproduce the reported simulation results.
