X-ray spectral characterization of optically selected narrow-line Seyfert 1 gal

We propose the observation with XMMNewton of a sample of 12 optically selectedNarrowLine Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1) discovered in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS) and never observed in Xrays. The key aim of this project is the study ofthe Xray spectral properties and correlations of optically selected NLS1. Thesuperior capabilities of XMM will allow to deconvolve spectral components ifappropriate. The results will be compared with those of Xray selected NLS1samples and classical Seyfert1s to discuss/infer systematic trends of the Xrayspectral shape as a function of the FWHM of (Hbeta) which, combined withluminosity, allows to estimate the Eddington ratio and the mass of the centralblack hole. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
