2011 Breeding Bird Survey of Taiwan

“BBS Taiwan” stands for “Taiwan Breeding Bird Survey” and this dataset covers the survey result in 2011. BBS Taiwan is a citizen science project, hoping to study breeding birds and their environment in Taiwan through long-term and large-scale monitoring effort. It utilizes cross-organizational cooperation and standardized survey methods with fixed time period to study population trends of breeding birds in the whole island of Taiwan as well as to establish real-time monitoring indicators of bird populations. The information provided by BBS Taiwan can help with promoting the conservation of birds, curbing the loss of biodiversity, maintaining the health of environment and well-being of people’s life, and can be used as a reference for developing conservation policies and assessing their effectiveness. 臺灣繁殖鳥類大調查簡稱BBS Taiwan(Taiwan Breeding Bird Survey)，此資料集為2011年之全臺調查資料。臺灣繁殖鳥類大調查，希望透過繁殖鳥類監測，關注臺灣的鳥類與環境的公民科學計畫。透過跨組織的合作，以定時定量定點的標準化調查方法，長時間、大尺度地監測臺灣繁殖鳥類族群變化趨勢。藉由眾多公民科學家的參與，每年進行臺灣本島全面的野外調查，獲得繁殖鳥類族群數量的第一手資料，並依此建立即時的鳥類族群監測指標。我們期望BBS Taiwan所提供的資訊，能幫助我們促進鳥類的保育，遏止生物多樣性的減少，並維護臺灣環境的健康與人類生活的福祉，與作為保育政策制定與成效評估之參考。
