Amplicon-based next-generation sequencing of Juquitiba orthohantavirus from wild Oligoryzomys rodents in Paraguay

This project characterizes the genetic diversity of Juquitiba orthohantavirus (JUQV), a rodent-borne pathogen associated with hantavirus pulmonary syndrome in South America. Using an amplicon-based Illumina MiSeq approach, we sequenced viral RNA from multiple tissues (lung, heart, kidney, spleen, liver) and biofluids (saliva, urine) collected from Oligoryzomys nigripes and Oligoryzomys mattogrossae rodents in the Mbaracayu Biosphere Reserve, Paraguay (2014-2017).
