By sequencing the messenger RNA of adults Apolygus lucorum, we identified one ultraviolet (UV) sensitive opsin and three long-wavelength (LW) sensitive opsin, suggesting the two evolutionary events in mirid bugs: the loss of blue (B) sensitive opsin and the duplication of LW opsin.
