Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) are extragalactic X-ray sources possiblyhosting super-Eddington accreting black holes or neutron stars. The ULXpopulation shows sources with randomic long and short-term variability. Weselected the ten nearby ( and amp lt 20 Mpc) galaxies that most probably host ULXs and thatwere not observed in X-rays. We ask for snapshot (10 ks) observations tocomplete the census of ULXs in the nearby universe. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
