A long look at V1309 Ori:Towards an understand of the blobby accretion proces

The eclipsing, longperiod polar V1309 Ori is one of the most peculiar magneticCVs. Most of its luminosity is radiated as flared soft Xrays, with nodomintating contribution of a hot thermal plasma from the shock column above thewhite dwarf. Therefore V1309 Ori is the only clearcut case of pure blobbyaccretion, where the impact mechanisms and radiation processs of a singleaccretion blob can be studied in detail. We propose one pointing of 60 ksec tocover two orbital cycles to collect data for around 300600 flares.Primary aimis to derive a significant correlation between several important blob parameterslike mass, temperature and length.
