Florida Bay Seagrass Communities (2004-2005)

This dataset serves as a documentation of the benthic habitat found in Florida Bay as it existed in the Spring of 2004. Digital data were collected using photogrammetric techniques. Groundtruthing was performed to verify photointerpretation classification. You can access the report and the photointerpretation key document Avineon Inc. was contracted to complete field work, photointerpretation, mapping and GIS within the Florida Bay Project study area under contract with the Florida Fish abd Wildlife Conservation Commission and Florida Fish & Wildlife Research Institute. Avineon completed and delivered a final coverage of the study area depicting grass, unconsolidated desiments, hardbottom, turbid plume areas, algae, and shoreline. The 2004-2005 Florida Bay Seagrass Mapping project study area extends from north of Key Largo in Card Sound to south of Long Key, extending northward to East Cape on the southern tip of the main Florida peninsula.
