Title: Parental Age Genetic Hypothesis of Youthful Appearance Abstract: This document presents an original scientific hypothesis proposing that the perceived youthful appearance of modern generations compared to previous ones is not solely attributable to skincare and lifestyle factors. The hypothesis suggests a core biological/genetic factor linked to the "age" of the parental genetic material at the time of conception. The hypothesis is based on two main premises: 1. Historical generations: Marriage and reproduction typically occurred at younger ages, meaning genetic material (sperm and oocytes) was transferred at its biological peak, with fewer accumulated mutations from age and environmental exposure. 2. Modern generations: Delayed age of marriage and parenthood has led to the transfer of genetically "older" material due to additional years of cellular divisions. This may manifest in offspring as phenotypic traits that appear older than their chronological age when compared to previous generations at the same age. Supporting scientific evidence includes: - Paternal Age Effect: Documented increase in de novo mutations in sperm with advancing paternal age, estimated at ~2 new mutations per year. - Oocyte aging: Females are born with all oocytes stored, so delayed childbearing involves oocytes that have been in meiotic arrest longer and exposed to oxidative stress and cellular aging. - Epidemiological and genetic studies: Established association between advanced parental age and increased de novo mutation rates in offspring. This hypothesis documentation establishes intellectual priority for the concept as formulated by Fouad El Mahi on 28/05/2026. Keywords: parental age effect, de novo mutations, genetics, aging, phenotype, reproduction
