Polystyrene-nanoplastics and triclosan co-exposure aggravates DSS-induced colitis in mice by interfering with Akkermansia muciniphila and tryptophan metabolism

Minimal research exists on the effects of co-exposure to polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) and triclosan (TCS) on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This study reports that exposure to PS-NPs and TCS indirectly exacerbates IBD by disrupting gut microbiota and tryptophan metabolism, highlighting potential environmental health risks.
