The heat energy stored in the soil/surface can be obtained via heat exchangers (so-called geothermal collectors) and used by heat pumps for heating purposes (soil geothermal energy). The map of potential site suitability for geothermal collectors assesses the suitability of the naturally stored, deposited soil for this form of near-surface geothermal use.
