This database contains information on over 1,300 genetically based diseases, functional descriptions of more than 1,400 genes, as well as relevant knowledge regarding the 23 pairs of human chromosomes and mitochondrial DNA. GHR is developed and maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications), with the goal of assisting the public in comprehending the effects of genetic variations on human health.
