收藏资源简介:
Galactic PeVatrons are a new exciting class in high energy astrophysicsfollowing the LHAASO discovery of 14 ultra-high-energy (UHE and amp gt 100 TeV) sourcesin our galaxy. However the mechanism powering the majority of UHE sourcesremains a mystery. Common leptonic and hadronic accelerators include PWNe SNRsinteracting with clouds and star clusters. Surprisingly four of the LHAASOsources have no active particle accelerator candidates in their vicinity andremain mostly undetected below the UHE band. We propose an extensive X-raysurvey of these dark PeVatron accelerators utilizing XMM.s large FOV andspectro-imaging capability. Our program combined with the planned VERITAS TeVobservations will collect X-ray legacy data on the most energetic and enigmatic objects in our galaxy. [truncated!
