We re-submit a proposal for offset pointings of the intermediate mass (M500 =210^{14} Msun) galaxy cluster A2589 accepted in priority C in AO21 but notobserved. This was selected for a pilot study to derive metal abundances up to0.75 R500 a challenging but doable distance as shown by the analysis ofMKW3s which we have been awarded in AO21. By combining X-ray with optical datawe will derive the iron-yield for this system and compare it with expected ironyields from SN rates. Since intermediate mass clusters represent a bridgebetween groups and massive clusters this study will help to solve the conundrumof the different behavior of galaxy groups which seem to match expected valuesand massive clusters which feature a discrepancy of a factor $3-7$.
