We characterize the genomic basis of abdominal pigmentation in Drosophila melanogaster females from two natural populations, Austria (collected 10/2010) and Italy (collected 09/2011). We sequenced pools of genomic DNA from females with most extreme light and dark abdominal pigmentation (A7). The experiment includes two replicates from Austria and three from Italy. For comparison, our experiment also controls pooled females that were not selected based on their pigmentation (reference). Three replicates were sequenced per population.
