In children, whereas dental biofilms is normally white, yellow or yellow-brown biofilms (colored biofilms) are also occasionally observed. However, children with colored biofilms do not always have poor oral health status. In the present study, the bacterial composition of colored biofilms from children was analyzed through 16s rRNA gene pyrosequencing, and was compared with those of white biofilms collected from the same subjects.
