Abstract: It was measured and evaluated the economic impact and job creation from the expenses and investments of the University of Contestado in Canoinhas municipality using a Keynesian spending multiplier model of whose coefficient was estimated at 2.84. The total economic impact motivated by the university in the local economy was about 252.8 million reais, or 6.47% of the city's GDP.
