Simultaneous Qualisys and OptiTrack recordings of a string quartet: a reliability comparison of two IR motion-capture systems (Bishop & Jensenius 2020)

A dataset in which a string quartet was recorded simultaneously by two infrared, marker-based motion-capture systems during the same performances. Recorded December 2019 at the fourMs lab, University of Oslo. The dataset allows comparing the two systems directly with identical markers: Qualisys (12 x Oqus 300/310, 120 Hz) OptiTrack (8 x Flex 13, Motive, 120 Hz) It is the comparison subset underlying Bishop & Jensenius (2020), 'Reliability of two IR motion capture systems in a music performance setting' (Proceedings of the Sound and Music Computing Conference, 2020). Six reflective markers per musician (head, upper back, left/right arm above/below elbow) on four performers (cello, viola, violin 1, violin 2). Contents: 7 corrected (gap-filled) Qualisys marker files (Qualisys TSV, 3-D, 51 markers) 7 matching OptiTrack Motive exports (CSV) per session (concert, concert2, condition1-5) Additional per-performer, per-audience-member and concert heart-rate RR-interval series (CSV) (a bonus modality from a concurrent ECG/EMG recording). The Qualisys and OptiTrack files are matched by session name, so each pair is the same performance seen by both systems - the basis for the cross-system reliability/error analysis. A related processed subset (single system per movement, plus pupillometry) is published separately as the Quartet Body Motion and Pupillometry Dataset (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.4888176).
