HisPhosSite is a comprehensive database of protein histidine phosphorylation sites, which contains a total of 13505 pHis proteins with 16154 pHis sites derived from 1374 species (e.g. human, zebrafish, E. coli, etc.). Histidine phosphorylation (pHis) is critical for prokaryotes and estimated to account for 6% of total phosphorylated amino acids in eukaryotes. It has been found to play critical roles in multiple cellular processes, including cell cycle regulation, metal ion coordination, and phagocytosis. This online database provides rich annotations of pHis sites, and can be a valuable resource for the study of histidine phosphorylation.
