Bee-friendly forests are primarily diverse, species-rich and structurally rich. Wild bees live on sunny forest edges, in forest clearings or in open forests with sufficient soil flora. The composition of tree species, e.g. with pollen- and nectar-donating deciduous trees, and structures with enough light and space for the food supply (flowers) are crucial for the attractiveness of the habitat. In particular, graduated forest edges are conducive to the diversity of flowering and wild bee species. In these nutrient-poor, extensively used zones, there are many food and breeding opportunities. Other bee-promoting measures in forest management include small-scale interventions to create open spaces, the leaving of waste wood islands and dead wood, as well as the protection of endangered forest ecosystems.
