Whole-genome sequencing of Geobacter strains isolated from natural environments using a crystalline Fe(III) oxide as electron acceptor

Four novel Fe(III)-reducing bacteria, strains AOG1, AOG2, AOG3, and AOG4, have been isolated from the natural environment samples using a crystalline Fe(III) oxide (ie., geothite, lepidocrocite, hematite, or magnetite) as electron acceptor. The 16S rRNA gene of these isolates affiliated to the genus Geobacter were 95.5% - 98.1% identical sequences to cultured relatives. Here, we report the genome sequencing, assembly, and annotation for these strains.
