Active Rail Yards in Kentucky

This dataset includes rail yard information collected by the fifteen Kentucky Area Development Districts. The details in the dataset come from their data collection efforts and from reviewing available aerial photographs. The locations and functions of the rail yards have not been confirmed directly with the railroad companies. Most rail yard boundaries were drawn by studying aerial images. Because of this, the mapped boundaries may include more or less land than what is actually owned or managed by the railroad. The names and locations of the rail yards come from the Area Development Districts’ data collection. Some information was checked using online maps provided by railroad companies, including Canadian National, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern, Paducah and Louisville, and RJ Corman Railroad Group.
