The remarkable X-ray spectrum of the luminous red QSO FTM J0830+3759

We propose a 50 ks XMMNewton observation of the Xray luminous, Type 1 QSO FTMJ0830+3785 (z0.413). We aim at obtaining the first highquality spectrum ofthis recentlydiscovered 2MASS QSO to assess its peculiar Xray spectralproperties. A very short 9 ks Chandra observation has revealed the statisticallysignificant presence of puzzling emission/absorption linelike features atenergies which do not correspond to any obvious restframe atomic transition.Similar features are observed in the spectra of a handful of intensivelystudiedSeyferts and attributed to relativisticallymoving material surrounding thenuclear Xray source, but have never been seen in the spectra of members of thepoorlystudied, high luminosity (LX >10e45 erg/s) dustreddened QSO population. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
