Keyfindingsofthe2019OxfordInternetSurveyinclude:•Aftermanyyearsofrapidchange,partsoftheInternetarestabilising•Internetusershaverapidlyincreasedbanking,commercialandentertainmentactivity•Generally,therearesmallornoincreasesincontent-productionactivitieslikepostingpictures,commenting,reviewing,maintainingapersonalwebsite,orblogging•AccesstotheInternethasincreasedbutonlyincrementally•Almosteveryoneundertheageof50usestheInternet•Thereremainhigherproportionsofnon-usersbelowthemedianincome(£28,400/yearin2018)•Therearealsodisproportionatepercentagesofnon-usersamongless-educatedgroupsKeyfindingsonharmfulexperiencesinclude:•HarmfulexperiencesontheInternet,likevirusesortheftofcreditcarddetails,havebeenstable—theyhavenotincreased•MostusersarenotstronglyconcernedaboutthepossibilityofbeingavictimasaresultoftheirInternetactivity•TheoverwhelmingmajorityofusersdonotlikethecorporateuseoftheInternetfortargetedadvertising•Mostnon-usersarenotinterestedingoingonline—theyarenon-usersbychoice•Asmallgroupofnon-users(10%)saythatthemostimportantreasontheyarenotonlineisbecausetheyareworriedabouttheirprivacy
