Source recording 2003/2004

National Park Gesäuse Weng This report documents the ecologically extended source mapping of the Gesäuse National Park in 2003-2004. The area mapped at this time, including the source-free zones, covers around 75 of the national park. Waters are an essential protection and management goal in Karst — National Parks, whose landscape is particularly characterised by hydrology. The sources, as interfaces between the underground karst milieu and the land surface, are of particular importance among the various manifestations of the water cycle. Therefore, it was an urgent task for the National Park to capture the entire source population.
