A lab-made method for extracting DNA from soils

There is a need for an effective and inexpensive method for extracting DNA from soils, especially considering the increasing use of DNA analysis in analyzing soil biological properties. Here we present a procedure that uses common materials at one fifth the cost of popular commercial kits.
