Validation of Subsurface Oil Simulator (SOSim) oil model using the Tank Barge DBL 152 oil spill, 2005-11-05 to 2005-11-25
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the input and output files for a case study using the Sunken Oil Simulator (SOSim) subsurface oil model. Model validation used data from the Tank Barge DBL 152 spill, which occurred 2005-11-05 in the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast. The DBL 152 spill provides an example of an instantaneous spill with sunken/landed oil. A single prediction of oil distribution is provided, corresponding to the time of the field sampling by NOAA on 2005-11-25. Included are the sampled oil concentrations, the bathymetry in the region, a summary of the input parameters (spill location, oil type, date, etc), and the shapefiles and legend information necessary to create the background of the relative concentration maps which are SOSim’s primary output. The dataset also includes some Python modules necessary to run the SOSim model, examples of the input GUI, and instructions on the set-up and inputs required. The native graphical output of SOSim has been exported into a NetCDF file for easier quantitative use.
