3D drone outcrop models of the Mount Messenger Formation, New Zealand

The purpose of constructing 3D computer models of geological outcrops of the Mount Messenger Formation was to better understand the deep-water sedimentary systems in Taranaki Basin, New Zealand. The Late Miocene-aged outcrops along the coast of the North Island, exemplify deep-water sedimentary deposits which are sandstone and siltstone layers that can also be images in offshore borehole and seismic reflection data. The drone images were processed in Pix4Dmapper software with precise geolocation to generate the 3D computer models. The description of the dataset is stored in the Read Me.txt file.
