This thesis develops a new film-based extraction column to improve liquid–liquid separation used in mining, pharmaceuticals, food, and environmental industries. Traditional spray and packed columns face a trade-off between capacity and efficiency. The new design forms liquid films on wires, which enhance mixing. Experiments showed 40–65% higher efficiency and better scalability, including successful lithium extraction from brine. Computer simulations explained the advantages and guided further improvements with corrugated wires. Overall, the study demonstrates a practical, scalable, and more efficient alternative to conventional extraction systems, with strong potential for industrial applications.
