This material is provided as-is, without warranty under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License as set forth in our Conservation Gateway Terms of Use (available from: https://www.conservationgateway.org/terms-of-use/) Contents This repository contains data about tree canopy and tree canopy change in New York City (New York, USA) for 2010, 2017, and 2021, aggregated by various units and, in cases, alongside other datasets, all intended to be aligned with the report as follows (with names of the respective (zipped) folders in parentheses): by administrative and geographic units (Canopy_2010_2017_2021_ByGeography.zip); by specific units alongside pertinent community characteristic data (Canopy_2010_2017_2021_CommunityCharacteristics.zip); by jurisdiction and, for private property, land use categories (Canopy_2010_2017_2021_JurisdictionLandUse.zip); and by different delineations of natural areas in New York City (Canopy_2010_2017_2021_NaturalAreas.zip). Each folder has a data dictionary file in both Word Document (.docx) and webpage (.html) formats with full details of specific contents or the respective folder. Spatial data in the form of GeoPackage (.gpkg) and zipped Esri File Geodatabase (.gdb) files are available for the Canopy_2010_2017_2021_ByGeography and Canopy_2010_2017_2021_CommunityCharacteristics data, which include aggregations by various spatial units. All folders also include tabular data, in the form of comma separated values (.csv) files. The data provided without spatial data are aggregated at the borough level, but sometimes include multiple rows of data per borough, thus users may select the desired data and join them to borough-scale spatial in the Canopy_2010_2017_2021_ByGeography if desired.
