Recombinant Mumps viruses grown on Vero cells (Cercopithecus aethiops). Detection and quantification of defective viral genomes (DVGs) in high throughput sequencing data using DVG-profiler, a novel post sequence alignment processing algorithm.

To provide Mumps virus sequence data that is known to contain DVG sequences. This data was used to characterize and test a HTS-based algorithm called DVG-profiler that can identify and quantify all DVG sequences in a HTS data set generated from a virus preparation. DVG-profiler identifies DVG breakpoints relative to a reference genome and reports the directionality of each segment from within the same read.
