Floor overview map 1:400.000

The soil overview map on a scale of 1:400 000 (BÜK400) depicts various soil societies, each of which differs in landscape terms due to its soil typological characteristics, its soil substrates (soil outlet rocks) and its relief location (morphology). The BÜK400 served as a data basis for the creation of soil atlases and geochemical maps. In addition, the BÜK400 is used as an overview map for regional and supra-regional planning of various kinds. It does not build on the larger-scale soil overview maps BÜK200 and BK50, but is an independent map based on various geofactors due to the summary of similar or comparable soil societies. The BÜK400 was completely ground- and substrate-systematically revised in 2017 according to KA5 (Soil Mapping Instructions of the State Geological Services and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, 5th edition, Hanover 2005) and is available digitally for download with legend and as an interactive map.
