Overview This Feature Service provides detailed vegetation data for the Cape Cod region, derived from high-resolution aerial imagery captured in spring 2025. It highlights tree cover and various forms of ground vegetation, supporting environmental monitoring and land use planning efforts. Feature Layers Vegetation Layer: Represents diverse types of ground cover including canopy (tree cover), grassland, and sand areas. The data was acquired through a 2025 project that updated an existing planimetric dataset and incorporated new features. Imagery used includes four spectral bands (true color and near infrared) with a ground sample distance of 7.5 cm, obtained under optimal spring conditions to ensure high positional accuracy and minimal environmental obstructions. Geographic Coverage This service focuses exclusively on the Cape Cod area in Massachusetts, providing a regional dataset valuable for local environmental management and planning. Source and Data Quality The data was produced by NV5, funded by the Cape Cod Commission. The imagery was collected under strict conditions to ensure leaf-off, snow-free, and clear atmospheric conditions, resulting in improved vegetation discrimination and spatial accuracy.
