Maryland Ecosystem Services - Net Carbon Sequestration Economic Value - dollars per year

This layer quantifies the yearly economic value of carbon sequestration in Maryland's forests and wetlands. Econoic values were calculated using the Social Cost of Carbon calculation (an estimate of the costs of climate change), the federal standard established by the US EPA, to value carbon sequestration in Maryland. We use $143 per mt of carbon, the mid-point of the Social Cost of Carbon, in this work. This ecosystem service totals $233.7 million for Maryland yearly. This data layer was created as part of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources "Accounting for Maryland's Ecosystem Services" program. This is a MD iMAP hosted service.
