依据热带自然林的种类组成、层次结构多样性的特点，以及植物群落的演替规律，在百余年水土流失严重的不毛荒坡上，开展了植物的引种和群落配置研究。25年来，采取工程措施与生物措施相结合，选用耐旱、耐瘠、速生的先锋树种，进行荒山绿化，重建先锋群落。建立了6000余亩多样性的热带人工林样板。初步探索出从荒坡恢复到多层多种阔叶混交林的途径。对同类沿海侵蚀地的改造利用，有指导意义。
