Different environments as a source of microbiome supporting degradation of microplastics: PP, PVC, PLA and PC_landfill soil

The accumulation of plastics in ecosystems creates the urgent need for their effective elimination. Currently, microbiological degradation of polymers is considered the most promising and sustainable method of their removal. The primary objective of this study was to investigate bacterial communities thriving in three different, plastic-polluted environments, namely: landfill soil, sewage sludge, and river water.
