VPRS 60 Registers of Inwards Correspondence

The Denominational School Board was established in 1848 and was responsible for the distribution of funds to denominational schools from an annual Parliamentary grant and a proportion of the Church and Schools Estates revenue.This series consists of the registers of correspondence sent to the Board. Each piece of correspondence received was assigned an annual single number. Other details recorded were the date of registration, the date of the letter, the name and location of the writer and a short summary of the subject of the letter. From 1857, there was space given for a memorandum which was used to note the number and nature of any reply. For that reply, consult VPRS 62 Outward Letter Books. The 1862 volume allowed for the inclusion of the school number if the piece of correspondence was in relation to a specific school.
