Fire Incidents (2008 - 2019)

Description: The Syracuse Fire Department protects the entirety of the City of Syracuse and all of its inhabitants by providing fire protection and prevention services. It holds an ISO Class 1 rating. The data includes all fire incident responses in the past year, including times, locations, and types of response. The fire department responds to incidents differently based on the specific need. This means for some incidents, the department will move as quickly as possible to reach the scene. For lower priority incidents, the department responds more slowly, which is safer for everyone during the travel time. The different incident times are generally logged automatically, but there are sometimes errors so what seem like very long response times may be data entry errors. The data is organized as part of the National Fire Incident Reporting System standard, though the Syracuse Fire Department does add in additional data points specific to the operation locally.
