This dataset was collected by the National Museum of China (NMC) in collaboration with the Beida Weigou Test Center from April 2023 to May 2025, specifically to meet the scientific conservation requirements for grease contamination-induced deterioration of preserved palm-leaf sutra cultural relics. Through comparative studies of simulated accelerated aging and real-world environmental aging, the dataset systematically documents the deterioration mechanisms and performance evolution patterns of grease-contaminated palm-leaf specimens under the two aging conditions. Data generation employs a comprehensive set of multi-dimensional detection techniques including microscopic morphology observation, pH value measurement, mechanical property testing, infrared spectroscopy analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and others, to comprehensively obtain the physical and chemical performance parameters and microstructure evolution data of the samples. The dataset includes comprehensive natural aging test data for simulated temple palm-leaf samples, covering basic indicators such as pH, micrographs, contact angle, infrared spectroscopy, and tensile properties; it also contains ultraviolet aging test data for grease-contaminated palm-leaf samples, including high-definition images, data tables, analysis reports, as well as original infrared files and XPS test results. This dataset is designed to support research on deterioration mechanisms of cultural relic conservation materials, formulation of preventive conservation strategies, and training of cultural relic conservation technical talents. It provides standardized and traceable scientific data support for grease contamination damage assessment, aging model construction, and conservation material screening of organic cultural relics such as palm-leaf sutras, and holds significant reference value for the conservation of similar paper and fiber-based cultural relics.
