The Antecedent Mechanism of Cyber-ostracism: Qualitative Analysis Using NVivo Software

To explore the antecedent mechanism of cyber-ostracism, the present study conducted a qualitative analysis using NVivo software, on the basis of grounded theory. The analysis encompassed research papers, in-depth interviews, and social media posts. The results showed that cyber-ostracism is influenced by “personality traits,” “cognition,” “emotion,” “social relationships,” and “network environment.” Notably, “cognition of others’ evaluation” within “cognition” emerged as the most significant impacting factor. The present study not only provides new theoretical and empirical evidence for understanding the phenomenon of cyber-ostracism but also offer valuable guidance for educational institutions and intervention practices.
